Qualified from Guys Hospital as a dentist in 1980. After several hospital posts in Oral and Maxillo-facial surgery, commenced specialist training in Orthodontics in 1984 at the Royal London Hospital. After three years in specialist practice in Kent re-located to Bournemouth in 1990. A part-time lecturer for several years for the University of London at the Royal London Hospital until the demands of the Bournemouth practice had to take priority.

Apart from Orthodontics as a whole, has a special interest in adult orthodontics.

Has held many positions of responsibility on The Local Dental Committee, the Dorset Dental Advisory Committee, the Council of the British Orthodontic Society, the Wessex Regional Orthodontic Audit Committee, and several working groups of the BOS.

Is a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists.
